A LITTLE HELP WITH THE NUMBERS

What could your trip start from?

Choose your time and group size for an indicative total. The first guest pays the full guide rate; each additional guest receives 30% off that rate, up to four people in total.

That makes a second guest 70% of the first guest’s rate. This is the price for your whole group, rather than a rate to multiply again.

Ferry costs are additional to the daily rate and are included in your final quoted price and payment. Your route, accommodation choices and special arrangements can change the final cost. This estimate is a starting point; your written quote confirms the price and inclusions.

FROM FIRST HELLO TO SETTING OFF

How booking works.

01 / SAY HELLO

Tell me your idea.

Send your dates, guest numbers and a little about what you love. You don’t need a finished plan.

02 / AGREE THE DETAILS

A route and a quote.

We’ll settle the itinerary, accommodation, collection point and inclusions before you commit.

03 / SECURE YOUR DATES

Make it a date.

A 50% deposit is paid by invoice to secure the agreed dates. The remaining balance is due one month before your tour; for trips booked sooner, payment timing is agreed with your invoice.

What if my plans change?

Please contact me as soon as possible if you need to cancel or move your dates. Refunds and changes depend on timing and the arrangements for your particular journey. Read the published booking and cancellation terms; we’ll confirm the terms that apply to your trip before you pay.

Can we travel for a different number of days?

Yes. The example journeys are there to help you picture the possibilities. Tours can run from a single day to a much longer adventure. Skye starts at four days, and I prefer to visit outside July–September.

Do I need a camera or hiking experience?

No. We’ll plan for your interests and comfort, whether that means gentle stops, photography or longer walks. You’re welcome to enjoy Scotland without taking a single photograph.

Will you be with us throughout the trip?

Yes—it’s me guiding you throughout, from the roads we travel to the places we explore. But you certainly don’t have to be glued to my side. If you fancy wandering off, taking your time somewhere or having a little space to yourself, please do. It’s your journey too.

How does food work?

Everyone’s different, so I tend to keep food plans loose. There’ll always be options along the way. We’ll work out evenings around where you’re staying—a meal at the hotel, somewhere nearby, or something to enjoy at your cabin.

Evenings are usually yours to enjoy at your own pace. Much as I love good food and company, this is also my working life, so eating out every night isn’t something I can do. You’ll generally dine independently, with recommendations from me whenever you need them.

Will you stay at the same accommodation?

Usually, no. I’ll get you settled into a lovely hotel or B&B, then head to somewhere simpler nearby for myself. It gives us both a little space to unwind and recharge. I’ll always be close by and easy to reach if you need anything.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Booking, payments & cancellations.

These terms explain payments and refunds for private tours with Distinct Scotland. Your written itinerary and quote confirm the agreed dates, total price and inclusions.

Confirming your booking & payment

A 50% deposit, paid by invoice, secures the agreed tour dates. The remaining 50% is due one month before departure. If you book within one month of departure, the payment deadline will be confirmed on your invoice.

If you cancel your tour

Please email hello@bryanmillarwalker.com as soon as your plans change. The refund depends on when your cancellation reaches us, measured before the agreed tour start date.

  • 21 days or more before departure: 25% of the total tour price is retained. Any amount paid above that is refunded. If fully paid, you receive a 75% refund; if only the 50% deposit has been paid, half that deposit is refunded.
  • Fewer than 21 days before departure, including if you cannot make the trip: the 50% deposit is retained. Any remaining balance already paid is refunded, and any unpaid balance is waived.

Refunds cannot exceed the amount you have paid. For example, on a £4,000 tour, the amount retained is £1,000 for cancellation 21 or more days before departure, or £2,000 for a later cancellation.

I’ll always do everything I can to make it fair for everyone. Sometimes life happens, and I’ll always accommodate as much as I possibly can for all my guests.

What is included?

Your quote confirms private guiding, transport and accommodation when applicable. Ferry costs are additional to the daily rate and are included in your final quoted price and payment. Entrance fees, including castle admissions, and food and drink are extra. Accommodation upgrades and other special arrangements will be identified in your quote before you confirm.

Changes or questions

Please get in touch as early as possible if you need to change your plans. I’ll discuss what is possible for your particular journey; any agreed changes to dates, route or price will be confirmed in writing.
