Wailing Widow

Loch na Gainmhich and the Wailing Widow

June 14, 2019 in Blog

I couldn’t think of a more epic opening than the name of the loch and falls pictured, can you??

We came here after a morning walking (and getting lost) along the coast of Stoer visiting the sea stacks. It was my turn to drive the 7 berth camper full of people, electronics, supplies and a dog, and it didn’t take long before the complaints came flooding in about my erratic manoeuvres (sorry again, friends).

I’d never been to this area before and spent most of my time here wading through swampy water and tall grass looking for angles, trying to get as much in as i could. After getting what i wanted it was time to take to the sky and get the drone out… but i’d taken it out of my bag to charge the batteries and forgot to pack it. I wasn’t too disappointed and enjoyed being restricted to the ground for a change. Plus i have a reason to go back again soon.

“Among the heathy hills and ragged woods
The roaring Fyers pours his mossy floods;
Till full he dashes on the rocky mounds,
Where, thro’ a shapeless breach, his stream resounds. ”
— Robert Burns

Did I take a picture of the yellow flowers all over Crovie?

Of gorse I did.
Exploring castles, hiking mountains, wandering through forests, but always taking the time to stand still.
Perfect timing
All the rainbow
